Rotary Club of O'Fallon Sunrise
Working with Rebuilding together, Dave Hopkins secured the funding and coordinated the construction of a wheelchair ramp for Mr Charlie Hussman, a local WW2 vet. Ty Worthington of Rebuilding Together led the construction with an enthusiastic group of Rotarians.
This is very important for Mr Hussman since he previously needed assistance to enter or leave his house. The ramp also allows his friends to visit. Great work everyone!
VPC is dedicated to ending domestic violence and providing support to victims and their families. Sunrise Rotary helped refurbish the common area for a comfortable place to relax.
This spring has brought many changes for our garden supporting the O'Fallon Food Pantry. The YMCA finished the parking lot upgrade last fall and supported the rebuilding of the garden with wood for 15 garden boxes and 25 cubic yards of dirt. This has been a lot of work, but the Service Above Self attitude has led to success.
The first planning is complete and we're tending a much larger garden with more variety this year. Come by the O'Fallon YMCA and check it out (maybe pull a weed or two while you're there).
Wheelchair Ramp Project
Located in one of the move impoverished neighborhoods in the country, the Christian Activity Center provides after school programming to more than 4,000 children and has a proven record of success. We contribute to the CAC through an annual donation. In 2013 we also created a meditation garden in a rarely used area in the rear of the CAC property.
